Chantele Doucette Wins Adult Singer Finals
Bristol, Connecticut's Chantele Doucette won the STAR SEARCH Tournament 2 Adult Singer Final and the Grand Prize of $100,000 plus a recording contract with Sony music. Chantele was first to sing, and after her powerful rendition of "I Will Always Love You" Ahmet Zappa remarked, "You are a supersonic fox!" Freedom Bremner was up second, and as he sang "I Love Music," he ran down from the stage and through the studio audience, "working the crowd." When the judges had finished scoring, Freedom was ahead by one star.
When the home audience scores were combined with the judges' totals, the singers were tied, with 33 stars each. The home audience broke the tie and overturned the judges' decision, and with 33 stars, 16 of which were her cumulative web score, Chantele Doucette won the Tournament 2 Adult Singer Final and walks away with $100,000 and a recording contract with Sony music.
