Tracey MacDonald Named Ultimate Comedian Champion
Nova Scotia, Canada's Tracey MacDonald got a double whammy this week! Still flushed from her victory in the Tournament 3 Finals on Wednesday, she returned to win tonight's Comedian STAR SEARCH BATTLE OF THE CHAMPIONS and winner of the $100,000 Grand Prize. First up tonight was Tournament 1 Champion Jon Roy, from Chicago, Illinois, with a routine about ethnicity. Next, Detroit funnyman Horace H.B. Sanders, Champion of Tournament 2, joked about his family. Tracey performed third, and when she had finished her self-deprecating routine about being a Canadian in Los Angeles, comedian Ben Stein diagnosed her as "acutely funny." The three judges (there was no guest judge tonight) thought all three Comedian Champions were hilarious, but in their scoring they gave the edge to Tracey.
The home audience upheld the judges' decision, and with 26 stars, Tracey MacDonald, already winner of Tournament 3's Grand Prize of $100,00, a CBS development deal and a guest spot on a CBS show, was declared Comedian Champion in the STAR SEARCH BATTLE OF THE CHAMPIONS and takes home an extra $100,000.
