Nadia Turner & Josh Strickland
Nadia Turner, a 26-year-old New Yorker, won this season's first Adult Singer preliminary round. Nadia was the first at the mic and belted out "I'm a Woman" from the musical "Smokey Joe's Café." She hit a high note with the judges, and Naomi remarked "You're a woman, and you're a singer!" Following a tough act, Josh Strickland performed next, singing the Phil Collins hit "Against All Odds," but the 8 stars the judges gave him weren't enough to beat Nadia's 11, and Nadia won.
But the competition wasn't over for her, because Nadia had to go up against a member of the intimidating Winners' Circle. Nadia challenged Jake Simpson, who sang a Stevie Wonder classic, "I Wish." To keep his place in the Winners' Circle, Jake needed a score of at least 11. The judges let him keep his place, giving him 13 stars, and he'll return in the Winners' Circle on Saturday, January 24 at 8pm ET/PT.
