Salsa Soleil & Brand New Old School
Dancers Liz Lira, 22, and Rico Bravo, 20, of Salsa Solei, danced their way to victory in the preliminary round tonight. First to perform, Salsa Solei danced a sultry salsa routine that MC Lyte said was "poetry in motion." Next up was Brand New Old School, composed of New Yorkers Shamgod Geddie, Kejamel Howell, Ravon Walker and Dimitrius, who lived up to their name with a retro funky street dance routine. The judges chose Salsa Solei, awarding them 11 stars and the chance at a spot in the Winner's Circle.
Salsa Solei had to choose their opponent for the dance-off, and they chose Candace and Brandon, who performed a classical pas de deux that impressed all three judges. Candace and Brandon were awarded 14 stars, retaining their position in the Winners' Circle and returning on Saturday, January 31 at 8pm ET/PT.
