Jules "Lady Jules" Urich & Kayla Kalbfleisch
Kayla Kalbfleisch of Las Vegas, Nevada won tonight's preliminary Young Dancer competition. Up first was Lady Jules, a 27-year-old from Boulder, Colorado, who represented female street dancers with gravity-defying head spins. Next was 16-year-old Kayla Kalbfleisch, who put her classical training to a modern routine that MC Lyte called "wonderful" and Mattie called "powerful." The competition was tough, and the judges broke a tie score of 11 stars by choosing Kayla to move on to the next round.
Still out of breath, it was time for Kayla to challenge someone from the Winners' Circle. Kayla chose new Winners' Circle member Jon Bond, who performed an energetic routine that won him 14 stars and another week in the Winners' Circle. He'll return to STAR SEACH on Saturday, February 14 at 8pm ET/PT.
WINNERS' CIRCLE
Celebrity Stylist Derek Lee gave the Young Dancers a red carpet makeover, and a chance to go to the Grammys. Before the Winners' Circle members were sent shopping, Derek gave each of them some fashion advice, suggesting Jon Cruz try out some slacks, telling Candace to avoid black, and recommending a "rocked-out belt" for new Winners' Circle member Jon Bond. But did the Young Dancers heed his advice, or shop to a different beat?
All three hit the racks, chose their own outfits and modeled their ensembles for professional stylist Derek Lee. After some compliments and criticisms, Derek chose Candace and Brandon to walk the red carpet at the Grammys, telling them, "You look like you're supposed to be together."
But the Winners' Circle members do more than just shop 'til they drop, and they're ready to be challenged by a new competitor. Dancer Jon Bond proclaimed: "I just joined the Winners' Circle, and I don't plan on leaving anytime soon."
