Winners' Circle Showdown: Jon Cruz vs. Candace and Brandon vs. Jon Bond
Jon Cruz won tonight's Young Dancer Winners' Circle Showdown, and a free pass to the Finals. Before taking the stage to compete, the dancers commented on the surprising twist in STAR SEARCH. The dancers didn't seem too hesitant about competing against their friends; in fact, Jon Cruz said he "can't wait," and Jon Bond said he was "really excited." Candace and Brandon didn't seem bothered by the twist, either, and Brandon said, "When you're trying to win something, you just forget about your friends."
Jon Cruz performed first, defying gravity with a street routine full of head spins and tumbles that impressed the judges. Naomi called Jon a "one man show" and MC Lyte said he "hopped around like a grasshopper" and noted that he spent "as much time on [his] feet as [his] back." Next, dancing duo Candace and Brandon performed a poetic pas de deux that showed off their ballet training. Finally, Jon Bond--the most recent addition to the Winners' Circle--performed a routine packed with power. After the performances, Jon Cruz had 13 stars, Candace and Brandon had 12 stars, and Jon Bond had 12 stars.
The audience at home got their votes in as well, and after the final tally, Jon Cruz won the Winners' Circle Showdown and the free pass to the Finals with a total of 25. But the others remain in the game, and Candace and Brandon and Jon Bond will return to STAR SEARCH on Saturday, February 21 at 8pm ET/PT to take on new challengers.
