Heather Elkin & Jacklyne Tasca
Jacklyne Tasca, a 20-year-old from Providence, Rhode Island, won tonight's Adult Singer preliminary round. From Nashville, 25-year-old Heather Elkin sang first, performing Aretha Franklin's "The House That Jack Built." Her competition was Jacklyne Tasca, who sang "Take Me or Leave Me" from the Broadway musical "Rent." After her performance, Judge Matti Leshem commented "I liked your performance, I think you had spunk." With a tie score of 8 stars, the Judges had to decide who would move on to challenge the Winners' Circle, and they chose Jacklyne.
Jacklyne called out Jake Simpson, who accompanied himself on the piano in a rendition of Al Green's "Let's Stay Together." With 14 stars, Jake kept his place in the Winners' Circle and will return to STAR SEARCH on Saturday, February 28 at 8pm ET/PT.
Winners' Circle
Freedom Bremner--last week's winner of the free pass to the Finals--returned home to New York for a visit, where his friends and family threw him a surprise party. While Freedom was being "recharged" by his visit home, Jake and Vickie were suffering from some serious homesickness.
But not even homesickness can distract the Winners' Circle members from their ultimate goal: winning STAR SEARCH! Vickie said: "I don't want to leave the Winners' Circle. I'm going to do what I do best, and that's sing." Fellow Adult Singer Jake also seemed up to the challenge, and he proclaimed "Anybody who might want to challenge me, let's go, I'm ready."
