America Declares Jon Cruz Grand Champion
Jon Cruz won the Young Dancer Finals and took home the $100,000 prize! But before the competition took place, each dancer took a moment to reflect on the weeks of work leading up to the Finals, and looked ahead to the big day. Jon Bond discussed the friendships formed in the competition, saying "I'm gonna miss everyone." As for Jon Cruz, he discussed the stress of competing, saying "I have so much pressure on me." As for newcomers Stacy & Joseph, they admitted to feeling a little like "outcasts" when they joined the Winners' Circle, but have enjoyed their chance to dance on national TV. One thing all the dancers have in common is their desire to win the Finals, and Jon Cruz said, "I'm going to be the next Fred Astaire!"
First to compete in the dance-off was B-boy Jon Cruz. After his performance, MC Lyte said he "elevated the art form" of B-Boy dancing, and Matti Leshem said that he "finally saw" Jon's talent. Next to take the stage was dancing duo Stacy & Joseph, who performed a routine that MC Lyte called "gorgeous," and Naomi complimented their "superb technical skills." Finally, Jon Bond performed an energetic routine to a gospel song, and MC Lyte said his dancing "tells such a story," while Matti praised his "originality and choreography," adding, "you're my choice."
But who would be America's choice? America voted, and they awarded Jon Cruz 11 stars and the $100,000 prize. Congratulations to STAR SEARCH Grand Champion Jon Cruz!
