Episode 14

12/21/06 10:13 pm

What a wonderful 5 hour Final 4 (YAWN!) Tribal (YAWN!) Council (YAWN!) ending after 39 days with most of the time spent showing Becky and Sundra attempting to start a fire. I saw a few of the Tribal Council members snoring and drooling as people off camera were throwing pebbles at Jeff to keep him awake. After 13 seasons and 39 days competing on Survivor, the ladies could not start a fire in a respectable time. It was insulting and embarrassing, but they made it to the Final 4 and I didn’t. “Nuf said.
Day 37, I loved the TC jungle-gym-8point-compass-puzzle, but I thought if Jeff tied up the Wizard of Oz 2 miles down the beach and let everyone start ahead of him, it might have been close. The amazing synopsis of this season was how my favorite Aitu Tribe underdogs knocked off 8 Raro Tribe members. Adam was very gracious in his final remarks, and I’m sure that’s how he really is. Nice game Adam.
Day 38, giving homage to the former Survivors by burning their torches was very emotional when you reflect on all the players. The final IC standing on the tiny platform went longer than most people can withstand. You really have to “face yourself and know yourself” to see how tough you really are. Although, the action was stationary, it is more difficult that the other challenges. Sundra was a stud. (But you can’t play with fire.)
To all the Survivors, Thanks for a great show and I hope to cross paths with everyone of you in the near future.
To Jeff, Thanks for hosting and bringing out the Best in people.
To The Wizard of Oz, Thanks for giving your all and leaving it all on the battlefield. You are the warrior of the season and they plan to make a Marvel comic book out of you. Your work ethics and actions always spoke for you. I still think it was unfair for you not to be tied up and blindfolded while imbedded in cement. You made the minority proud of your performance.
To Yul, Thank you for representing the Asian Invasion on this show and thanks for the being a role-model for everyone. For being so analytical and diplomatic, you still came out as the sole Survivor.
To the Survivor Bloggers, Thanks for sharing you funny insights, wisdom, and the interesting and enjoyable comments. I enjoyed Scout, who falls in love with everyone and Brian’s sarcastic words. My final vote went to………zzzzzzzzz…
Sorry, I fell asleep drooling trying watching the tie-breaker fire challenge on tape again.
Happy Holidays…Bruce (the cute Japanese guy)

Hey, good call on the Car Curse, Scout. And good luck with the move to Hawaii!

Congratulations to Yul on a game well-played, and congratulations to Ozzy on a fantastic showing for the season. I can't remember the last time each member of the Final 2 was so dominant throughout the entire game in such different ways. It makes for a much more satisfying season when you find that you'd be equally happy with either contestant winning.

Becky and Sundra: you're both beautiful and intelligent women, and I wish you the best. But seriously? That "fire"-"making" was brutal to watch. Yikes. And then, poor Becky had to face the jury while trying to play her last card, which, unfortunately, was the strategic equivalent of the two of clubs. At least they both seem fortunate enough to have successful careers and talents to fall back on, provided they don't find themselves stranded in a snowbound cabin with only a match and a pile of wood to keep them warm.

Adam: I have to give you a lot of credit for your well-thought-out last-minute plan to rid Yul of his idol. The Aitu 4 were just too loyal to each other to start really thinking about self-interest. And you were completely gracious in defeat, which I find speaks volumes about a person. You're much smarter than I gave you credit for, even if you were on The Grind.

And to all 43 remaining contestants: you were all entertaining and you made the Cook Islands one of the best seasons in a while. I only wish we could have seen more of Sekou, Billy, and Cecilia, who seemed like fun people.

And to Jeff Probst: I tease because I care. Please keep on coming back to host this show for as long as it's on. It just wouldn't be the same without you.

Lastly, thanks to the other bloggers for bringing such great humor, insight, and entertainment. Hope to see you all back for Fiji next season. (Any guesses on what the "Most Controversial Decision Ever" is? I say someone gets gay-married and then gets an abortion.)

One final note: The Survivor Jinx continues: He who wins the car does not win the million. Amazing, hummmm?!

As the song says, "EVERYONE IS BEAUTIFUL IN THEIR OWN WAY!" The FINAL FOUR from the Cook Islands are the most beautiful final foursome in the history of this game. The entire production team for Survivor must be floating on air after such a victorious and powerful season. The bottom line is truly this: everyone is beautiful in their own way. The lessons taught through the experiences of the Cook Island cast will be fodder for many social and psychological classes for months to come.
Yul modeled cooperation and teamwork. Ozzy modeled focus, passion, and fun. Becky modeled spunk and friendship. Sundra modeled eloquence and pride. There could not have been a bad ending to this season. As everyone knows, I've been a Yul fan all season. However, I became a great Ozzy fan as well. This was the closest finish over-all in survivor history. Both Yul and Ozzy deserve APPLAUSE AND CHEERS FROM HEAVEN. They have already made this a better world.
Becky and Sundra could have taken a lesson from Vanuatu. When all else fails, cut off your hair and use to to start the fire. It really burns great. However, Sundra burned her last match and left the game with dignity and aplomb! She is a class act.
I bow to Yul for a season of masterful leadership and teamwork. I bow to Ozzy for modeling physical skills above and beyond any other survivor. I bow to John Kirhoffer and the Dream Team for building the most amazing challenges in the world.
And I bow to Mark, Jeff, and all the production team for keeping this game the top game on the planet.
We watched the finale from LA where we came to ship cars and trucks to our home in Hawaii. We'll look forward to seeing many of our survivor friends on the beautiful north shores of Kauai. Until then, remember that God claps when we rise above our differences and blend our hearts together as one family on Earth. Aloha!

Congratulations Yul, Welcome to the Millionaires Club. Ozzy I was hoping you would wear the title, Congrat's to you Ozzy 2nd is not at all a bad spot. You both played excellent games. Yul, had Ozzy been voted out a while back, you would have by process of elimination became my favorite. Looking back on it, IM glad there was never a fire making tie breaker challenge, cause I can't say for certain that I know how to make fire. We had bought Kerosene and lighters at the Village, so there was no need on the Pearl Islands for flint. Cook Islands, I believe brought back a lot of fans. Every where I went someone would mention this season and who their favorites were and how they either liked or disliked Jonathan. All I have left is to run into Candice one day while IM out and about in Fayetteville. Well IM sure all the Cook Island Survivors are great, can't wait to meet you all....Sincerely Sandra

OK I have to admit it even though I have "special" ties to Ethan and may be partial, his blogs are damn funny and I hate posting after him because I can never be as funny as him. Its actually kind of like that in real life to with us.

The finale didnt bring much surprises other than the fact that with matches Becky AND Sundra can start fire, I would of never guessed. I think the embarassing display of fire making skills cemented the fact that neither of them was getting any votes against Yul or Ozzy in the final three.

I firmly believe that having a final three will always leave one person of that three high and dry and just a touch embarassed.

Yul was a great player, Ozzy was a great player so you cant argue the win either way even though I was rooting for Ozzy to win. I think Adams vote being based on him threating Yul earlier in the game he wouldnt vote for him unless he ousted Jonathan was lame, especially when he admited at the reuinon show he would of voted for Ozzy if Yul didnt follow through. Vote for the best player not on what you promised.

I wished for fireworks and drama at the reuinon show because I love that crap and we got a bunch of lovey dovey bull.

This season was good but heres to Fiji and hopefully more drama and even better challenges. The next season has alot to live up to.

Not surprisingly, Ozzy continued his domination in the immunity challenges. In the first one, he dove, rolled and leaped his way to a nice comeback. At one point he let his true animal side shine through when he actually ran on all fours across the net. I was hoping for a victory howl, but no dice.

In the second, and surprisingly, final immunity challenge Ozzy outbalanced his Aitu Four members. Now, did anyone catch the little clicking noises he was making when they first got up on their perches? I believe what he was doing was communicating with the air molecules around him. If my Water to English dictionary is correct he said something like, "Hold me steady, brothers. Bring us to victory over the humans!" And hold him steady they did. It's the only explanation for how he recovered from his several near-falls. Once again, Ozzy and his mastery over the elements brought him to victory leading us to the most boring tie breaker in history. The only rational explanation for the hour and a half fire making session: Ozzy. He can control mud, water and air. It only stands to reason that he can control fire as well. Once he was sure they'd both sufficiently humiliated themselves he allowed the fire to come to life.

But, in the end all of Ozzy's superhuman skills weren't enough to win him the million. Yul's puppet master plots secured him the victory.
As Yul and his family celebrate, we notice Ozzy is no longer on stage. Where has he gone?

Cut to:
A lone figure with curly hair stands on the beach at the water's edge. Something is happening to him. Is he shrinking? Not exactly. More like dissolving. He' breaking down, back into his basic elements. Air. Water. Sand. He's returning to the earth from which he was formed. Failure was never an option. "I should have never won the Mazda...foiled by the car curse" thought Ozzy. REVENGE!!!

And On beaches around the world, the opposite is happening. Sand is forming into a shape. The shape of a young man. Countless Ozzys are coming to life and this time they will have their victory. A victory over the human race.

We cannot stop them. They are legion.

And the world will know the wrath of Ozzy. Watch out Les Moonves, watch out Mark Burnett, watch out Banjo Sonja, watch out sound guy with the dreadlocks and yellow shirt.

Good luck fellow humans. We'll need it. I'll be with Probst at Yul's house chillin' in the bunker he built with the million dollars. We are trying to crack that elephant / surface area math code Yul presented to us in episode 10. It may be the key to saving the world afterall.

See you in Fiji...

No surprises right? If Sundra had won the final immunity, it would have been a whole different finale.
I think Becky made the right decision about not taking Yul’s offer for the idol. Imagine if she took it, and then Yul got screwed. Wow.

Anyway, a little pathetic with Sundra and Becky going head to head on the fire challenge. BUT, I’m not one to talk.

Yul, Ozzy, Becky. I’m thinking right away there is no way Becky even has a shot. Everyone else felt the same. You are between two giants. Here me out----this is not the first time, you have a player like Becky alongside a giant in this game. What I don’t understand is that when we have a person like this in a final, they just don’t state their case. Becky was facing an uphill battle, but it wasn’t 100% luck she ended up there.

Loved Adam’s question to Ozzy. He wanted to here trash about Yul and Becky. I wanted that question posed to Yul sooo bad. I just want him to do SOMETHING wrong. In the end, Yul is well spoken. I thought Ozzy’s answers were mezza mezza, except when he talked about his Dad, it was real emotion. I actually welled up with tears and my husband rolled his eyes.
I thought Sundra cleaned up the best.

Again, a pleasure blogging on this season and with fellow survivors that I am a huge fan of. Ethan, I thought your blogs were just hilarious.

My life is back to normal after Survivor Guatemala. I still can’t believe I was actually on the show. To those out there, who have applied—Never give up and just be yourself.
Peace out.
