Biography

Mary Sartain, a self-proclaimed SURVIVOR addict, is a co-owner of Statewide Financial, a real estate and financial company that, under her supervision, houses a team of loan officers, salespersons and assistants. She has worked in sales all her life. Sartain attended some college at California State, Hayward, where she took courses in art and business. She also attended real estate school and is currently in Broker School.

Sartain lived in Quito, Ecuador when she was five years old. She moved to Oahu, Hawaii, when she was 18 years old to explore island living. She eventually moved to San Francisco and then Walnut Creek, California.

Sartain's hobbies include painting, basketball and Bikram yoga. She describes herself as energetic, strong-willed and an achiever. She is most proud of realizing her potential at a very young age and having been in business since she was 19 years old. In addition to her ability to adapt mentally and physically, Sartain believes that her skills of being able to put people together (as she does in her everyday work) to create the outcome that she desires will help her go far on SURVIVOR.

Of all the previous SURVIVOR contestants, she mostly relates to Jenna Morasca from season six because she was able to use her good looks to win the game. She proves to be a true fan by coming into the game with a solid game plan: make an immediate alliance with two strong minded and capable people who know the game as well as her.

***Update*** Since Sartain’s appearance on Survivor, she has met her future husband. Sartain is currently engaged to former Pearl Islands Survivor Ryan Opray. She resides in Emeryville, California, with her two Abyssinian cats, Kya and Portia. Her birth date is November 11, 1978. .

What Fans Are Saying About Mary

sammy98765

mary is hot as hell

survivorneen

She's only 29?  Damn, she looks way rough... all the baking has made her look leathery and her surgeon did a really awful job on her boobs, she needs to get her money back!  She could be cute if she wasn't trying so hard.  First there was Romber, then ethan and Jenna M., and now Mary and another Survivor! :S

I just read that Mary is now seeing Skinny Ryan from Pearl Islands?!?! How'd he get so lucky?

Mary, Mary, we hardly knew ye. Born under the sign of Scorpio so probably no dummy. Maybe the smart-plotter vibes were too strong. In a Mary interview, I learned that Kathy (who apparently had applied to and almost made it to Vanuatu - THANK GOD, SHE DIDN'T MAKE IT!!!!) apparently didn't want to play with the Vanuatu lesbians. Read: Ami (unless they're hiding Scout in a coconut over at EI). So how did this lady become an ally of Chet???Oh yeah, this is supposed to be about Mary. Methinks that Mary could have gotten far if she had not been swiped at so early. A bit like Poverty, who almost was the first to go but ....As she watches the Favorite Flirts thrive, Mary must be cursing that she didn't end up on the tribe that would have appreciated such talents. Interesting that TC 2 was about eliminating flirtation and TC 3 was all about crowning it. If only Cirie and Joel had switched places, you would not only be around, Mary, you would be Queen Supreme. Them's the breaks. There's no justice in the world.

Mary Sartain's interview with Reality TV World is up:http://www.realitytvworld.com/news/mary-sartain-talks-about-her-surprise-survivor-microneisa-ouster-6562.phpExcerpts: Sartain said Micronesia isn't the first time she applied for the show -- which considering she's part of the Fans tribe, she's obviously watched before. "I watch the show really carefully... I really appreciate the purity of the show," she said.  "I applied for Fiji and I made it to the finals for Fiji.  Long-time wanted to do this show.  This is one of the No. 1 things I wanted to accomplish in my lifetime." "I'm engaged to Ryan-O [Ryan Opray] from Pearl Islands," she said during the conference call.  "If I didn't get the boot early on, then it could have never happened that we met.  I met him through another contestant on the show who had also been booted off early.  He introduced us and now we're engaged." Opray -- who finished ninth during Pearl Islands -- and Sartain both hail from California and were introduced a few days after her December return from Micronesia.  They "hit it off" right away, according to Sartain.

Mary's podcast audio interview with Joann and Stacy is up:http://cdn4.libsyn.com/joannandstacy/SFP20080215_MarySartain_Survivor_Micronesia.mp3Mary may be out of the game early, but don't feel to sorry for her because she has just become engaged to former  Pearl Islands Survivor Ryan Opray. Survivor Africa and All-star's Lex Van Den Berghe is going to marry them. She said there will be a lot of Survivors at the wedding and reception, of course!

J-A-H said... Sucks that she had to go so soon. These first couple votes are usually for the annoying (Kathy) and the contestants who suck big time at challenges (Chet). We never got a chance to get to know her :-( -->-->--> *BAND*

Mary was one of my picks from the fans to make it to the end. It sucks that she had to go so early. =(
