Biography

A trained dancer who spent her teen years on the surfing beaches of La Jolla, Calif. Raquel Welch blew into Hollywood taut, bronzed and spirited. Welch needs no introduction to the millions of movie fans who first glimpsed at her statuesque beauty in the science fiction classic "One Million Years BC," after which she secured a place for herself as the reigning sex symbol of the '60s and '70s.

Starring in over 45 films and winning a Golden Globe for best actress in "The Three Musketeers," some of Welch's early films include "Hannie Caulder" "Kansas City Bombers," "100 Rifles" and "Myra Breckinridge."

She has also acted on the stage with a remarkable performance in the hit Broadway musical "Woman of the Year," which led her to a starring role in "Victor/Victoria."

Off-stage and screen, Raquel's life has been rich with innovation. She was an early devotee of yoga and is the best-selling author of a yoga book (1983) that introduced this rejuvenating discipline to millions of women. This year marks the 10th anniversary of The Raquel Welch Wig Collection; the most successful enterprise of its kind. Additionally, she has also joined Catherine Deneuve and Diana Ross to become the Icon Face of M.A.C. Cosmetics, contributing her own expertise to create a line of signature cosmetics that was an immediate international success.

Most recently, she co-starred in the feature films "Legally Blonde," "Tortilla Soup" and "American Family."
