Directions
Use saw to cut two 18" pieces from 1x4 wood. Use drill with wood bit to drill a hole in both ends of each piece of wood. The holes should be centered and about 2 1/2" from the end of the board. Use the drill with the ceramic bit to drill a hole in the center of each terra cotta saucer.
Note: Use light pressure when drilling these holes to avoid cracking or breaking the saucers.
To antique the terra cotta pots and saucers, mix brown acrylic paint and water. The paint mixture will have a thin consistency. Use sea sponge to apply paint mixture to pots and saucers, and then use a damp paper towel to wipe off excess and rub in paint mixture. Let dry. Hot glue each terra cotta pot and saucer together, making sure the holes are lined up. Hot glue the pots and saucers to each end of the two boards. Jute rope or floral wire can be added for extra stability. Use utility knife to trim floral foam to into each pot. Use hot glue to secure the foam in the pots.
In the center of each pot, push a taper candle into the foam. Add greenery, artificial flowers, apples, ribbon and reindeer moss to the foam to embellish each pot. Center one arm of chandelier on the other arm to form a plus sign. Secure the intersection point with wood glue, nails or screws then wrap with jute rope for added stability and aesthetics. When securing the two arms of the chandelier with nails or screws work from the top side so they will not be visible from underneath.
Note: If screws are used to secure the arms of the chandelier a pilot hole should be drilled. The pilot holes will keep the wood from splitting and make it easier to put in the screws. Use several strands of jute to wrap around the arms of the chandelier at equally spaced intervals. Gather the strands of jute rope over the center of the chandelier; tie all strands together in a knot to form a hanger.
