Instructions
For the mask: soak thin strips of gauze in warm water. Stand in front of a mirror.
One strip at a time, form papier-mâché to face to create a mask shape (or use a ready-made form). Remove the form from your face and smooth out any wrinkles with fingertips. Add extra strips of gauze anywhere you want a more dramatic effect, such as the eyebrows or nose. Allow the papier-mâché to dry overnight. Spray with spray paint. Apply two coats of paint, allowing each to dry in between coats. When final coat of paint dries, attach the velvet leaves around the border of the mask with hot glue.
For the handle: spray dowel with spray mount. Wrap fabric around dowel. Glue edge down with hot glue if necessary. Attach ornamental beads at the bottom end of the dowel with hot glue.
Assembly: attach handle to one side of the mask with hot glue. Attach ribbons as streamers from the other side of the mask using hot glue.
