The fresh smell of citrus is always a welcoming fragrance. That's why I chose to make a large Citrus Laurel Wreath saying "Welcome" for this week's individual project. I started by gathering a bunch of curly willow. I separated stems in equal parts, and lashed them together at the top and bottom with raffia to create the shape of a laurel wreath. Then I wrapped the willow with lots of lemon leaves. I then used a light gauge florist wire to string together various citrus fruits. Starting from the bottom of the wreath, use grapefruits (since they are heaviest) and continue to the top of the wreath, using lemons then finally limes. I hot glued various pieces of sliced dried citrus throughout the wreath. Finish with a ribbon tied in a large bow. Now attach a hand painted sign simply stating, "Welcome".
