The Bird Apple
Take an apple, and place it on its side (stem facing sideways.) Cut the bottom of the apple so it sits flat (approx. ¼ in.) Put the cut off into a bowl of lime juice and dip the apple as well. Continue this every time you cut a piece or your apple will turn brown.
Now, start in the middle of the side of the apple facing the stem away from you cut (with paring knife) a little line. Now, move 1/8 of an inch up, making a mini line. Start to cut from the first line to the mini line ending up at the end of the first line; pull out the small piece.
Follow the same steps below and above the cut you have already made. Total cuts = 6. After the first one, try to keep the two cuts connected somehow.
Repeat on the opposite side of the apple and on the top of the apple towards the back, but only four cuts total. Now, dig out a small hole on top of the apple where the stem is, and pull out the stem. Cut two small pieces off the stem (for the eyes).
Take the cut off from the bottom of the apple and cut out a little head. Then press the two eyes in and stick the head in the hole you dug out. Place the wings back in the opposite way you cut them out.
Presto, you have a bird apple to impress the rest!
