CBS aims to be the talk of the Web
It’s site now focuses on enabling communities of fans to gab about and share clips of it’s shows.
...With the Audience Network, Smith’s strategy could be described as “outertube.” The idea is to send CBS shows to other websites where people are already hanging out, to ensure that viewers don’t have to go far to find them.


EyeLab makes content cut at CBS
CBS is launching EyeLab, an editing studio that will promote the company’s content across the Web though shortform clips.
EyeLab will draw on news, sports, primetime, and late-night CBS content as well as Showtime, the network-owned premium cable property. The shortform programming will then be distributed on CBS.com, CBS Mobile and the CBS Audience Network, which includes AOL, Microsoft and Comcast.


CBS Interactive pacts with affiliates
TV Unit adds websites to ‘audience network’
CBS is adding it’s network of local TV and radio station websites to its online “audience network,’ which distributes Eye primetime shows across the web. CBS Interactive announced Monday it had inked deals with CBS’ 29 owned TV affiliates and 144 CBS Radio websites, as well as a number of the 183 websites owned by CBS affiliates across the country.


TV Networks Try New Advertising Techniques
In order to stay relevant in a world where one in five Americans watches television through the Internet, networks and advertisers are looking beyond the traditional 30-second spot. Networks like the CW and CBS are looking at ways to reach audiences who prefer the mouse to a remote. “CBS’s ability to partner with leading next-generation interactive platforms is the best way for CBS to evolve from a content company to an audience company,” said Quincy Smith, President, CBS Interactive.
