"A Woman Like You," Lee Brice
Composers: Phil Barto+n, Johnny Bulford, Jon Stone
Publishers: 3JB Music (BMI), Adios Pantalones (SESAC), Hears That Skyline Music (SESAC), Sixteen Stars Music (BMI), Warner-Tamerlane Publishing Corp. (BMI)
"A Woman Like You" was the first single off of Lee Brice's album Hard 2 Love. It was also his first #1 song, topping the country charts and knocking Jake Owen out of the top spot. The song was written by Jon Stone, Phil Barton, and Johnny Bulford.
"Even If It Breaks Your Heart," Eli Young Band
Composers: Will Hoge, Eric Paslay
Publishers: Cal IV Songs (ASCAP), Will Hoge Music (BMI)
"Even if it Breaks Your Heart" was written by Will Hoge and Eric Paslay, and originally recorded by Will Hoge for his 2009 album The Wreckage. Eli Young Band recorded the song and included it on their album Life at Best. "Even if It Breaks Your Heart" went on to be Eli Young Band's second consecutive #1 hit.
"Over You," Miranda Lambert
Composers: Miranda Lambert, Blake Shelton
Publishers: Pink Dog Publishing (BMI), Sony ATV/Tree Publishing (BMI)
Miranda Lambert's single, "Over You," was co-written with her husband Blake Shelton. However, the song was too close and personal to Blake for him to perform it on a regular basis, so he insisted Miranda record the track. The song is about Blake losing his brother. "Over You" reached #1 on the country charts.
"Springsteen," Eric Church
Composers: Eric Church, Jeff Hyde, Ryan Tyndell
Publishers: Bug Music (BMI), ole Purple Cape Music (BMI), Sinnerlina (BMI), Sony ATV/Tree Publishing (BMI)
Eric Church co-wrote his #1 hit "Springsteen" with Jeff Hyde and Ryan Tyndell. While the song references Bruce Springsteen and some of his songs, the song is not actually about The Boss, but rather a reminiscing of young love, highlighted by the music they listened to together. Recently, Bruce Springsteen sent Eric Church a note, telling him that he and his family appreciated the song.
"Wanted," Hunter Hayes
Composers: Hunter Hayes, Troy Verges
Publishers: Happy Little Man Publishing (BMI), Songs From The Engine Room (BMI), Songs Of Universal Inc. (BMI)
Hunter Hayes' chart-topper "Wanted" is often credited with being the song that took Hayes from being a fresh face on the country circuit to mega-stardom. When "Wanted" reached #1 on the Hot Country chart, Hayes became the youngest solo male act to claim that spot on the country charts. Hunter was also nominated for three GRAMMY Awards this year.
