Malaya Pineda on Code Black
Melanie Chandra is an actress, techie, model, former Miss India America and holds a 2nd degree black belt in Shotokan Karate. Formerly a mechanical engineering student at Stanford University and analyst for McKinsey & Company, Melanie traded her cubicle for the arts and hasn't looked back.
Chandra made her television debut with a guest starring role in the comedy “Rules of Engagement,” on the Network. Her other television credits include “NCIS: Los Angeles,” on the Network, “Parenthood” and “The Nine Lives of Chloe King.” Recently, she was featured in “East of Main Street: Taking the Lead,” a documentary about Asian actors. Currently, she can be seen in the summer comedy series “The Brink.”
She has starred in several East Indian films, the most recent being “D For Dopid” by award-winning filmmakers Raj & Kirshna DK.
Chandra co-founded the non-profit Hospital for Hope with a few of her classmates at Stanford. Currently, the organization is developing a self-sustaining hospital in Jharkhand, India, to support a region with over 100,000 villagers who lack access to proper healthcare facilities.
