February 19, 2012: Miami Gone Greek

Posted on Feb 20, 2012 03:00am

Who doesn’t remember college? Sure, the argument could be made that an indefinite state of inebriation might very well hinder one’s memory; that is unless said college years have become an unmerciful reminder of one’s haunting past… Such is the setting of our latest episode, where the CSIs head back to college as they investigate a string of murders which appear to be linked to a sorority affiliation. As the pieces start coming together, it becomes clear that bullying—even in the college years—can prove deadly.

In addition to learning that Calleigh herself was at one point a part of the Greek system, we meet our “red herring” of the episode, Elle Toring, a young woman tormented by the very friends she used to call her “sisters.” In a dramatic closing scene, Elle leaps from a grid of barn rafters, a noose tied tightly around her neck… An earlier draft of the script had Elle standing inside her sorority, soaked in lighter fluid and welcoming death with every flick of her lighter, but was changed later by the writers.

Human torches. Tanning bed barbeques. Death by horse. There’s no telling what a little old fashioned bullying will lead people to do to protect themselves—or the ones they love…
