Season 4: Episode 1 - I Fought The Law

I Fought The Law: While driving back from a college visit downstate, Zach Florrick is pulled over by a cop who wants to search his car for drugs. Alicia attempts to defuse the situation, but Zach compounds the issue by secretly recording his conversation with the police officer--and sending the video to himself instead of deleting it when confronted by the cop. With Zach's future at stake, Alicia must defend her son in court and prove that the traffic stop was the result of illegal profiling tactics designed to confiscate cash from drug deals.

Lockhart/Gardner narrowly avoids being liquidated in bankruptcy court, but they must raise $60 million in five months if they want to get out of debt. In order to make certain that happens, the court appoints a trustee that has veto power over both Will and Diane who will oversee the firm through its financial crisis. One of the firm's newest clients, however, is Kalinda's estranged husband--a dangerous yet attractive man who Kalinda defers to in their relationship. In addition, Peter beings to ramp up his primary campaign for the Illinois governorship, but questions start to arise from the press about whether or not Alicia is truly in his corner.
