Bleeding Heart: Jane and the CBI team investigate the murder of a mayor's aide. Rigsby announces his relationship with Van Pelt to LIsbon and the team. The CBI team reluctantly allow themselves to be followed and interviewed by Mike Brewster a reporter for a local for a news organization as they investigate the murder of Martha St. Clare, media relations coordinator to the mayor of Sacramento. Martha’s body was dug up by Mayor Melba Walker Shannon at a ground breaking ceremony for a new development and news cameras captured her horrified reaction as well as the rest of the attendees and the onlookers. Brewster shares his news footage of the ground breaking ceremony. He points out the private developer on the project, Heaton Krupp standing next to the Mayor and the tree huggers in the background. He explains that the project is going up on the edge of protected wetlands. Martha was stabbed twice in the chest and the team posits that the killer wanting to make a big statement made sure that the body was discovered during the ceremony under the full glare of cameras. Looking at photos of Martha St. Clare, they notice a necklace that Martha is wearing in all the photos. However, the necklace was not on her body at the time of death. Jane thinks the killer took it as a trophy. Jane and Lisbon interview the mayor’s aide, Wilson Fonteneau about Martha. Wilson tells them that Martha scheduled a briefing with the City Council for the following day but neither nor the Mayor knew what that was about. They Mayor explains that because of the new development, her office received several threats from environmental protestors led by a madman named Jasper. She believes that Jasper killed Martha to derail the development from going forward. During her interview, Wilson brings the Mayor a message. Clocking the Mayor’s reaction to the message, Jane provokes her into throwing them out of her office but not before he pilfers the message the Mayor received. He shows it to Lisbon, "911. Call Now. About Martha. From Heaton Krupp, the developer of the project.” Rigsby and Cho question Krupp in his office trailer. He reveals that Martha was planning to tell the City Council to withhold funds for the project. Suddenly a Malotov cocktail flies through the window, engulfing the trailer in flames. Cho, Rigsby and Krupp barely escape out the back door. When the review the crime scene, they discover a "J” spray painted on a bull dozer at the site and posit that Jasper was behind the arson incident. Jane and Lisbon review Jasper’s video and Jane strongly believes that Jasper didn’t kill St. Clare. Lisbon isn’t convinced and asks Cho to get the extra TV coverage of the ground breaking ceremony from all the news outlets. Jane and Lisbon question the Mayor again. This time Jane asks her how much Heaton Krupp was bribing the Mayor in order for the project to go forward. The Mayor denies the allegation and tells them they should be looking for Martha’s lover. Van Pelt and Rigsby go back to Martha’s apartment, look through her clothes and discover men’s shirts. Martha indeed had a lover. Meanwhile, Lisbon asks Jane to be nice to the crew following them around, AG’s orders. In an attempt to make nice with Brewster and his cameraman, Jane offers to buy them lunch at the taco truck. As they wait for there food, a van pulls up, three ski masked men jump out, one of them brandishing a shotgun. They kidnap Jane. A blindfolded Jane is taken to a cabin in the woods. Inside the cabin, tied to a chair and masked Jasper explains to Jane that he did not kill Martha, nor did he torch Heaton Krupp’s office. Jane tells him he believes him and that he knows who he is, Wilson Fontenau, the mayor’s aide. Back at the CBI, the team has captured one of the kidnappers and he gives up the location of the cabin. As the local PD, surround the cabin, Jane is trying to convince Jasper/Wilson to let him go. The team and the local PD storm the cabin and find Jane tied up and safe but Jasper/Wilson has escaped. Back at the CBI, Jane sets a trap. He tells them that Wilson and Martha were lovers and that he killed her. The CBI team followed by Mike Brewster and his cameraman surround Wilson’s home and wait for him to come out. As they wait, Jane questions Brewster and tells him what Brewster has in his pocket, Martha’s necklace. Jane tells Brewster that knows that he and Martha were lovers. Brewster confesses. He says that he was looking at Martha’s computer which revealed knowledge about the Mayor’s bribe. Knowing that this would be a big story for him and his career, he argues with Martha over why she didn’t tell him. Their argument escalates and Brewster stabbed Martha with scissors. In the end, Brewster goes to jail and the Mayor is arrested for corruption. Rigsby and Van Pelt reveal their relationship to the team. ...
