Losing weight can be a struggle, especially because there's so much confusion about what and how to eat. Vice President of Education and Research for Atkins, Colette Heimowitz joined us today to set the record straight about some common diet myths.

You don't have to skip breakfast to lose weight.
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, especially when you are trying to lose weight.  It helps kick-start your metabolism, keeps you focused during the day, and keeps you fortified to help you avoid falling into the unhealthy traps like doughnuts at the office.  Atkins offers meals such as the Farmhouse Scramble to help you get that important breakfast meal even when you're too busy in the morning to cook a full meal.  When you eat this dish it reminds you of a country diner and all the smells of the sausage, bacon and eggs.

Low-carb diets do not restrict healthy foods like vegetables.
Low-carb diets actually encourage vegetables as a central part of the diet.  The Atkins Diet actually recommends more vegetables per day than even the USDA guidelines!  And eating vegetables on a diet doesn't just mean lettuce.  You should eat filling, colorful vegetables to keep you excited about eating healthy long-term.

Atkins has new frozen meals that are delicious, satisfying low carb meals with vegetables. They help you stay on track with Atkins and are made with only the finest ingredients. With the Atkins Chicken & Broccoli Alfredo meal, you get a well-balanced meal with real veggies, like broccoli florets along with buttery creamy alfredo sauce and real chicken – and no preservatives!

You don't have to cut out all sweets in order to lose weight.
The main issue with sugar is that they put your body on a sugar rollercoaster and you experience sugar spikes and crashes which result in cravings.  By choosing low-sugar products, like Atkins bars and shakes, you can satisfy your cravings with a delicious on-the-go snack without getting off track with your diet.  Plus, the added protein in these products helps to control your appetite.

Atkins bars and shakes provide meal, snack and treat options to keep you satisfied, even when you are on the go.  These bars and shakes are a great way to make sure you don't skip your meals while still giving you all the vitamins, minerals, and proteins you need.

25% of the population who are carbohydrate sensitive, simply can't consume high carbs or added sugar. You can use the Chocolate Peanut Nougat Bar as a great substitute. You don't need to sacrifice the sensation of sweet because it still tastes like a candy bar and it has nutrients to keep you going.
