Yeah, I'm Not the Perfect Environmentalist.
I'm getting excited about my new book, The Imperfect Environmentalist. I've been working on it for a few years now and it's finally due out in August.
People have been asking what inspired me to write the book. Well, I'm committed to being green. And I'm hardly perfect. Some weeks I forget to take the recycling out.
The truth is that we can do a lot to clean up the environment without becoming some off-grid breatharian with a composting toilet.
I came to the environmental movement young, with big ideas about "saving the planet." I'm still an idealist, but I'm a working mom, too. With everything else I've got to think about, sometimes "saving the planet" can take a back seat.
So I just keep it as green as I can.
How do I avoid common toxins in household products? What's important to buy organic and what's not? If I have to drive, how can I minimize the damage me and my car are doing? I started researching my book to find some answers.
The result is a quick reference guide that's going to make it easier for all of us.
