Melissa Claire Egan joined the cast of THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS in November, 2011, as a mystery woman named Chelsea Lawson, who was involved in Billy Abbott's arrest in Myanmar. Chelsea is currently married to Adam Newman (Michael Muhney).
Originally from Bedford, New York, Egan grew up with an extensive background in musical theatre, singing and dancing, taking a multitude of classes in New York City as a child. While still a child, she began booking national television commercials and was signed by the Ford Modeling Agency.
Egan graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a BA in Dramatic Arts. During college she appeared in many plays including "Marvin's Room," "How I Learned to Drive," "The Birthday Party" and "Pippin." She also studied Shakespeare at the British American Drama Academy at Oxford, England.
Upon graduating college, Egan began acting professionally. In June, 2006, Egan booked the role of Annie McDermott on "All My Children." Her television credits include "Bones," "Men at Work," "Criminal Minds," "One Tree Hill" and "Dawson's Creek," and she starred in the independent film "Wrestling."
Egan was nominated for a Daytime Emmy in the Best Supporting Actress category in 2009, 2011 and 2012.
Egan's hobbies include seeing plays and musicals, dancing, choreography, writing, playing tennis, swimming, yoga, going to sporting events, road trips, happy hour with friends, and hanging out with her family. She serves as a spokesperson for Proactiv skincare.
