8. The rich history
The Tony Awards® started in 1947 and is named after legendary actress Antoinette Perry, who inspired thousands through her work at the American Theatre wing. Now, 69 years later, the ceremony continues to honor Perry’s legacy by honoring those who have similarly moved audiences through their performances.
