Squaw Valley: Andy Wirth

Posted on Mar 5, 2013 10:50am

Why the Boss wants to go undercover:
Squaw Valley has recently acquired Alpine Meadows, another mountain located in Tahoe, California. This was an important merger for Squaw Valley, unfortunately it has also led to a lot "riding the desk" for Andy. He has become less engaged with both his guests and his employees and would like to make sure that things are running as smoothly as he believes they are.

Jobs he will do undercover:
Ski Patrol – As CEO of Squaw Valley, Andy's ski patrol team must make sure that everyone is safe while on the mountain. His patrollers are amongst the most experienced in the world. Will the boss be able to hold his own during a life-or-death training scenario in incredibly dangerous terrain?

Snowboard Instructor – One company-wide goal is to make their guests lifelong customers. One way to ensure this happens is to have instructors who are passionate and teach kids to love skiing and snowboarding. Will the boss find that he has good role models employed for the children?

Lift Mechanic – Safety is crucial to the Squaw Valley reputation. Andy is happy to find out that everything is being checked thoroughly but finds out that his disguise isn't as good as he thought and is quickly discovered by his employee. How will the boss react to some harsh truths about his company?

Terrain Park Crew – Jumps and rails are exciting options for both skiers and snowboarders. These features make a trip down the mountain more challenging and exhilarating, as long as they are safe and thoughtfully designed. Will the boss be challenged by the physically demanding job of building a feature?
