Mark King President and CEO

Background: Mark King has spent nearly his entire professional career at TaylorMade, beginning as a territory sale representative when the company was just a start up, and working his way up the company ladder to President and CEO.

Why the Boss wants to go undercover: The industry of golf has been shrinking with the downfall of the economy and by going undercover, Mark hopes to find out if there is an opportunity to increase revenues in any area of the company’s business.

Jobs he will do undercover:

Quality Control Auditor, Golf Ball Factory: TaylorMade is currently not the number one golf ball retailer but Mark hopes to find ways to be more competitive in the market. Can Mark keep up in a factory that produces 8,000 golf balls a day?

Returns Supervisor: Merchandise returns is an important connection to the consumer and Mark wants to ensure that the most efficient systems are in place to keep customers satisfied and sales up. However, Mark soon discovers that being efficient might also mean being wasteful and perhaps they have been missing an opportunity to help people who are less fortunate.

Demo Technician: Demo events are an important opportunity to reach out to customers and custom fit their golf clubs. It’s a great service to their customers that can produce $100,000 in sales in a single day. Will Mark remember all of his salesman skills and be able to keep up?

Club Manufacturing: Taylor Made is #1 in golf club sales in the U.S. and the clubs are made in a factory right next to Mark’s office. Will this boisterous CEO be able to maintain his cover while keeping up on a demanding assembly line?
