We eat them but you probably didn’t know that they eat us. They carry parasitic worms that cause Schistosomiasis, a disease that is particularly deadly to children in developing countries that play in contaminated water. These microscopic killers cause liver damage, kidney failure, infertility, bladder cancer, and death. Think about that the next time you order escargot.
