Join host Caroline Kennedy at this celebration honoring musician James Brown, actress Carol Burnett, singer Loretta Lynn, director Mike Nichols and violinist Itzhak Perlman.
CBS has broadcast the Kennedy Center Honors from the Opera House of The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. each year since its premiere in 1978. Further keeping with tradition, the roster of presenters and performers are kept secret prior to the gala, and a short biographical film is presented during each honoree's tribute.
The performers and presenters include Yolanda Adams, Alan Alda, Anastacia, Julie Andrews, Dan Aykroyd, Scott Bakula, Christine Baranski, Gary Beach, Candice Bergen, Wayne Brady, Garth Brooks, former President George Bush, Kim Cattrall, Tim Conway, Florence Henderson, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Harvey Korman, LL Cool J, Patty Loveless, Lyle Lovett, Elaine May, Reba McEntire, Brian McKnight, Bernadette Peters, Chita Rivera, John Schneider, Sissy Spacek, Joss Stone, Tom Stoppard, Meryl Streep, Elaine Stritch, Patrick Wilson, Trisha Yearwood and Pinchas Zukerman.
Additional performers include the Alexandria Harmonizers Chorus, the Choral Arts Society of Washington, D.C. and the Perlman Music Program, in addition to The United States Army Chorus, The United States Army Herald Trumpets, The United States Army Chorale, The United States Army Soldiers Chorus and The United States Navy Sea Chanters.
President and Mrs. George W. Bush, Vice President and Mrs. Richard B. Cheney, Secretary of State and Mrs. Colin Powell, and former President and Mrs. Bush join the honorees in the balcony seats following a reception for the honorees at the White House.
