VALERIE BERTINELLI (Kathleen McAllister)
Valerie Bertinelli is perhaps best known by her fans as the well-adjusted teenager Barbara Cooper on the CBS hit series "One Day At A Time." In the years since she has proven her acting abilities with starring roles in quality television programs that have ranged from light comedy to heavy drama. Bertinelli recently starred in the CBS hit series "Touched By An Angel."
Born in Wilmington, Delaware, Bertinelli and her three brothers grew up wherever their father's career as a General Motors executive took the family. In 1971, that path led to Van Nuys, California, where Bertinelli first expressed her interest in becoming an actress. She made her acting debut in television commercials, public service announcements and on the television series "Apple's Way" before her big break in "One Day at a Time." More recent forays into series television have included NBC's "Cafe Americain," and "Sydney" for CBS, which she also executive produced.
In 1982 and 1983, Bertinelli developed projects for herself under her own production company, Tuxedo Limited, which included "The Seduction of Gina" and "Mail Order Bride." In the years since, she has accumulated an impressive list of credits in made-for television films and miniseries including "Murder Of Innocence," "In A Child's Name," "Rockabye," "Silent Witness," "Shattered Vows," "Two Mothers for Zachary," "Night Sins," "I'll Take Manhattan" and "Personally Yours."
She has also appeared in "Aladdin and His Magic Lamp" for Showtime, "Ordinary Heroes," and the feature film "Number One With A Bullet."
Bertinelli lives in Southern California with her son Wolfgang.
