I LOVE LUCY is considered to be the most prestigious, far-reaching and beloved program ever created in the history of entertainment television. Premiering on the CBS Television Network on Monday, October 15, 1951, it introduced television audiences to Lucille Ball, who was to become CBS's greatest star, and Desi Arnaz, a man of Latin heritage who was a brilliant performer, gifted musician, creative visionary and innovative business force. Both are timeless and adored role models for millions worldwide, and helped to change television forever.

In celebration of the 50th anniversary of this landmark comedy series, we asked you to choose your favorite I LOVE LUCY episodes of all time, from a list of 179 half hours and 10 LUCY-DESI COMEDY HOUR specials featuring the Ricardos and the Mertzes. The episodes listed on this ballot were selected by a distinguished group of I LOVE LUCY experts, including "Lucy" scholars, journalists, writers, producers, directors and members of the creative team for the original series. They judged the episodes based upon timelessness, defining classic comic and musical moments, creative elements (including story, characterization and artistic craftsmanship), general audience and critical response and popular recognition through the years.
