Johnny Cash was born in Kingsland, Arkansas in 1932. He made his first single, "Hey Porter," in 1955. Known as “The Man in Black,” which was also the title of his 1975 biography, Cash recorded more than 1,500 songs. He won 11 Grammy Awards, including the 1999 Lifetime Achievement Award and the Best Country Album award in 2002. He was inducted into both the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Rock Music Hall of Fame, and was the only person to have both honors until 1998 when Elvis Presley was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. Cash made successful recordings as a solo artist, as part of a duet, as the leader of a trio and as part of the award-winning Highwaymen quartet. He married June Carter Cash in 1968.
