JUNE 1917 Dino Paul Crocetti (Dean Martin) is born in Steubenville, Ohio.
MARCH 1926 Joseph Levitch (Jerry Lewis) is born in Newark, New Jersey.
SEPTEMBER 1944 As recalled by Jerry Lewis, he and Dean Martin meet for the first time on a New York City street in front of the Belmont Hotel.
MARCH 1946 Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis are booked separately at the Havana-Madrid Club in New York City, but appear during each other's acts for the first time.
JULY 1946 Martin and Lewis appear together for the first time at the 500 Club in Atlantic City. They begin selling out clubs within weeks, with lines running out the door and down the boardwalk. Their salaries quickly soar from $125 a week to $5000.
JUNE 1948 The television program "Toast of the Town" premieres with Martin and Lewis as guest stars. Ed Sullivan hosts.
APRIL 1949 "The Martin and Lewis Show," a weekly radio program, premieres with guest star Lucille Ball.
SEPTEMBER 1949 Martin and Lewis' first feature film, "My Friend Irma," is released by Paramount Pictures. By the end of the 1940s, Martin and Lewis are the most popular comedy duo in the nation.
MAY 1950 Martin and Lewis break the attendance record at the Copacabana Club in New York City.
JULY 1950 Martin and Lewis' television program, "The Colgate Comedy Hour," premieres.
MARCH 1952 Martin and Lewis host the first Muscular Dystrophy Association Telethon in New York City.
JULY 1956 Martin and Lewis make their last nightclub appearance together at the Copacabana Club in New York City.
DECEMBER 1956 Martin and Lewis' 16th and final feature film together, "Hollywood or Bust," is released.
SEPTEMBER 1976 Martin and Lewis are reunited, live, as Jerry hosts the Muscular Dystrophy Association Telethon.
DECEMBER 1995 Dean Martin dies.
