In most cases, Wil would have the upper hand on the theoretical physicist. (Heck, even now the actor has been known to pull the rug out from underneath Sheldon, at least every once in a while.)
As the latest season of The Big Bang Theory continues, let's take a look back at some of Wil's most ingenious "gotchas" on Sheldon over the years.
The Dixie Trek Debacle ("The Creepy Candy Coating Corollary" - Episode 5, Season 3)
The infamous rivalry between Sheldon and Wil Wheaton arguably started during the 4th Annual Dixie Trek Convention in 1995—at least it did for Sheldon. When the Next Gen star failed to show up at the anticipated con, an enraged 15-year-old Sheldon declared the actor his new mortal enemy for not coming to sign his Wesley Crusher action figure.
The Mystic Warlords Wile ("The Creepy Candy Coating Corollary" - Episode 5, Season 3)
Years later, Sheldon sought revenge against Wil after the Dixie Trek incident and went head to head with the actor in a Mystic Warlords of Ka'a card game tournament. To gain the upper hand, Wil tricked Sheldon into thinking he missed the '95 Dixie Con because he was at his grandmother's funeral, and Sheldon, feeling guilty, intentionally lost the card game. Only after the tournament was over did Sheldon learn that Wil was lying about the funeral. ("WHEEETONNNN!")
The Big Bowling Breakup ("The Wheaton Recurrence" - Episode 19, Season 3)
The quarreling Sheldon and Wil crossed paths again in a heated bowling clash. Keen to foil Sheldon's team (which Sheldon renamed "The Wesley Crushers"), Wil sabotaged Leonard ( Johnny Galecki) and Penny's ( Kaley Cuoco) relationship, causing them to break up and cost their team the whole kit and caboodle.
Indiana Jones and the Last Cutsies ("The 21-Second Excitation" - Episode 8, Season 4)
When the guys arrived at a special screening of Raiders of the Lost Ark that was said to include 21 never-before-seen seconds of footage, they found the line to be unbearably long. Adding insult to injury, Sheldon ran into Wil and his cronies, who, thanks to Wil's reputation, skipped the line and went straight into the theater.
The Professor Proton Pilferage ("The Proton Regeneration" - Episode 6, Season 11)
Well after the boys made amends, Wil managed to get one more over on Sheldon: He beat him out as the new Professor Proton character in the TV remake—much to Sheldon's dismay. To Wil's credit, he didn't relish in besting his buddy this time, so... progress?
