20 Times Country Stars Kept It in the Family

1. Perry Siblings Kimberly, Reid and Neil form country supergroup.

Siblings Kimberly, Reid and Neil make up the hugely successful country music group The Band Perry. Kimberly, 31, is the lead vocalist and also plays guitar and piano. Reid, 26, plays the bass guitar and sings background vocals, while younger brother Neil, 24, plays the mandolin, drums, accordion and also sings background vocals. Talk about one talented family!

2. Kimberly Perry is a natural-born leader.

This gorgeous singer has always taken the lead. Before she and her brothers formed The Band Perry, Kimberly sang in her own group as a teen.

3. Reid and Neil Perry show their brotherly love.

When the brothers were young, they used to assist Kimberly’s music ambitions by stringing up guitars and lugging instruments for her. Reid, pictured above, is known for his flowing locks and rockstar style.

4. The Perry brothers dream bigger.

Deciding they wanted to be more than just their older sister’s roadies, Reid and Neil started their own band called Mobile Music Machines. Kimberly was so impressed with their sound, she became the band’s musical director. Neil, pictured above, rocks the mandolin like no one else.

5. The Band Perry is born and welcomes listeners into their extended family.

In 2005, the siblings decided to form a family band and they were later discovered by Garth Brooks’s manager, Bob Doyle. They signed a record deal with Republic Nashville in 2009 and released their hit single, “Hip to My Heart” shortly after.

The trio is nominated for “Vocal Group of the Year” at this year’s ACM Awards.

6. Zach and Cody Swon of The Swon Brothers team up onstage.

Siblings Zach and Colton Swon started their namesake band in 2000. However, for those playing along at home, the guys had been performing together long before they officially became a duo.

9. Zach and Cody Swon make it official.

The Swon Brothers signed a major-label deal with Arista Nashville in 2013, and put out their first single, “Later On,” shortly after. Zach, pictured above, is definitely a proud, older brother.

When John and TJ were younger, they started a band with their dad called Deuce & A Quarter, and spent a lot of time playing around their hometown of Deale, Maryland.

John, who plays guitar in Brothers Osborne, later moved out to Nashville to pursue his dream of being a professional musician. It’s hard to imagine anyone not falling in love with that manly beard.

14. John and TJ eventually reunite and it sounds so, so good.

Getting restless in Maryland, TJ decided to move out to Nashville and decided to follow in his bro’s footsteps by forging his own path as a musician. As luck would have it, the brothers teamed back up to form Brothers Osborne. It’s a good thing they did, too, because the guys signed a record deal with Capitol Records in 2013.

15. Brothers Osborne get the recognition they deserve.

Brothers Osborne are nominated for “Vocal Duo Of The Year” at the 2015 ACM Awards and they’ll go up against The Swon Brothers. That’s a tough race!

16. The men in Rascal Flatts prove you don’t have to be siblings to make an awesome family band.

In 1999, members Jay DeMarcus, Gary LeVox and Jon Don Rooney formed Rascal Flatts, which started out as the house band at Nashville’s beloved Printer’s Alley.
