Before the newest season of The Amazing Race kicks off Friday, Feb. 12 at 8/7c, here’s the inside scoop on what went down at the exclusive premiere screening event in Hollywood where this socially savvy cast all watched the first episode together!

Following the energetic screening, host Phil Keoghan led a fun Q&A panel with the social media personalities and it didn’t take long to realize this cast—and the entire season ahead—will be one for the books!

Find out why!
This season is overflowing with personality.

This season is overflowing with personality.

Just as the premiere started, a huge wave of camaraderie washed over all the racers as they exchanged hugs and took selfies with each other. Everyone in the cast as cheering, laughing—both at one other and even themselves—and bonding over all the memorable moments within the premiere.

In fact, the laughter was so loud at times, it was hard to even hear parts of the episode.
Every pair brings something different to this season.

Every pair brings something different to this season.

Even though this season is full of social media taskemakers who are experts in the world of gaming, dancing, beauty, and modeling, each person brings something different to the table, as explained by Ashley, who sat besides her teammate and boyfriend, Burnie, at the panel.
Phil thought he was pronouncing Darius' name wrong.

When Phil shook Darius’ hand at the screening, he asked if had been pronouncing his name incorrectly all season. Darius laughed and told him no; he thought it was Phil’s New Zealand accent that made his name sound more unique.

When Season 28 first kicked off, going offline felt a bit strange for these social media personalities. Burnie explained how it was tough on him and how he experienced device withdrawal during the first few days. Erin and Blair chimed into the conversation, too, saying they felt "phantom vibrations" at first being without their phones.

However, as the Race went on and Burnie got more into the adventure, he realized just how refreshing it was for him to unplug.
Sheri and Cole weren't afraid to let their emotions show.

As the group took their seats for the panel, Phil noticed just how nicely everyone cleaned up since their make-up free days on the road, especially mother-and-son duo Sheri and Cole, who were seen getting pretty emotional during the premiere.

Erin was particularly touched by Cole’s love for his family, how he wore his heart on his sleeve during The Amazing Race, and even went so far as to call Cole her "spirit animal."
The Race brought newlyweds Zach and Rachel even closer together.

Heading into the show, Rachel and her "Magic Viner" husband, Zach had only been married for 11 short months, so they were curious to see how they’d handle the challenges and potential friction caused by the backpacking journey.

Turns out the couple handled the adventure like pros because the duo said their bond is now stronger than ever!
Scott and Blair's relationship is too cute for words.

Scott and Blair's relationship is too cute for words.

As Scott sat behind his daughter, Blair, at the panel, he told the crowd about the moment Blair asked him to be her Race partner. While reflecting on the conversation, Scott was moved to tears and the screening audience "awwww’d" in return.

His hope, which was to grow closer to his career-driven daughter—who, at 16, moved to L.A. with her sister—undoubtedly came true.
Packing for the show was a real struggle.

Packing for the show was a real struggle.

Deciding what to pack before the show was no easy task. Just ask Burnie, Tyler, and Blair, who all agreed that deciding what to bring on their big trek proved to be a real head-scratcher.

After the first leg, Tyler said he basically left all his belongings behind to travel more quickly and Blair gave the greeter in Mexico City a few of her "necessities"—a curling wand, goggles, sleeping bag, and an adaptor—so she could free up some space in her bag.

From Detours to Roadblocks to downtime, running the Race brings with it unexpected and often unseen bumps along the way. Joslyn told the audience that, while many episodes hit on the major landmarks of each journey, there are lots of other behind-the-scenes details the pairs must work through together.
Tyler enjoyed his break from social media while on The Amazing Race.

Some fans might be surprised to learn that the YouTube sensation was happy to go offline for a bit. Once his Amazing Race journey began, social networks were hardly top of mind. Instead, Tyler told fans, "You leave what you do at the door when the Race starts."
For Brodie, The Amazing Race has always been a family thing.

Brodie, who Phil called out as the tallest man on the Race, was really excited to join the show because he watched it with his family growing up. Now, the frisbee player's fam will get a chance to watch him and his buddy, Kurt, get a shot at taking home the $1 million prize!
The dance community was very supportive of Matt and Dana going on the show.

L.A.-based professional dancers Matt and Dana knew that ever since they met, they wanted to tackle the Race together. Once they were chosen to be on the show, people would come up to them in their classes to express their excitement and love for the adventure series, which meant a lot to the couple.
