If you've been watching the latest episodes of The Big Bang Theory, then you've probably noticed Season 9 is shaping up to be action-packed with special guest stars.

For example, the son of Mr. Spock, Adam Nimoy, graced us with his presence on "The Spock Resonance" and Tesla founder Elon Musk is set to appear on the show's Thanksgiving episode.

Now, we can add one big name more to the list and reveal that fan favorite Bob Newhart is set to appear in an upcoming episode slated to air on Thurs., Dec. 17 at 8/7c.

The Emmy Award winner will return to play the character of Arthur Jeffries, Sheldon's childhood hero, who appears in the theoretical physicist's dreams as a ghostly Jedi to help him sort out his feelings and make a very important decision.

Newhart first appeared on the show in an episode called "The Proton Resurgence" (Season 6). Here, Sheldon and Leonard discover Newhart's character Dr. Arthur Jefferies, the beloved scientist on a now-cancelled kids show, is alive, well, and hosting children's parties.

Then, in Season 7 ("The Proton Displacement"), Dr. Jeffries reappeared on the show to collaborate on a paper with Leonard, which is something that upset Sheldon, who retaliates by working with yet another famed childhood TV science star.

Finally, the last time we saw Newhart was later that season in "The Proton Transmogrification," when it's revealed his character died, but appears in Sheldon's dream as Obi Wan Kenobi, offering advice.

As we anxiously await to learn of Arthur's wise words for Sheldon during this particularly tumultuous time, don't forget to watch all-new episodes of The Big Bang Theory on Thursdays at 8/7c.
