A Not-So-Ex-Cellent Idea

A Not-So-Ex-Cellent Idea

After meeting Penny's ex-boyfriend Zack, Amy started to experience some strange sensations, specifically in her ears and lady bits. However, it wasn't until after the gal-pal dinner date that Amy dug for answers, discovering her symptoms could only be caused by one of the following: early menopause, hyperthyroidism, an alien parasite, or sexual arousal.

While the average Jane would identify those as the type of butterflies associated with being smitten by a stranger, it's only fitting that Amy would believe she was suffering from an alien parasite as opposed to having an innocent crush.

Not Your Lab Rats

Not Your Lab Rats

In an attempt to make his work environment more efficient, Sheldon decided he needed to add a little "productive stress" to his daily routine. When blasting the air conditioning didn't work, the string theorist was forced to come up with another way to increase his anxiety. His solution? Crash girls' night and immerse himself in some seriously uncomfortable menstruation conversation.

Unfortunately for Sheldon, the ladies weren't talking about their cycles—because, as we all know, as they normally don't—and they weren't about to allow him to ruin their wine time. Instead, they entertained his ridiculous question about whether werewolves could swim.

The moral? A man can interrupt girl hangs, but he can't make their time together any less special.
Passion, Please

Passion, Please

When it comes to The Big Bang gang, everyone appears to be super-passionate about something: Leonard has sci-fi shows, Bernadette has pharma-science, Sheldon has himself string theory, Amy has neuroscience, Howard has space, and Raj has girls.

So, while each of her friends could spend hours talking about their many interests, Penny found herself struggling to hold a conversation about her own.

Feeling discouraged, Penny confided her insecurities to Bernadette, who told the non-working actress that everyone can find something they truly enjoy if they take the time to really mull it over. Unfortunately, Bernadette's point went from poignant to a little bit terrifying when she shared how she fell in love with science. (Let's just say telling someone you loved the idea of being able to crush millions of microorganisms, irreparably damaging their universe, is probably going to illicit some horror-stricken facial expressions.)

But, hey, what better way to encourage your friends to explore what excites them than to scare them away from you? Bernie's got this whole friendship thing down!

Don't Expect A Tip

Don't Expect A Tip

Nervous about his first date with Lucy, Raj asked to crash wine night in order to glean the ladies' best dating advice.

While the ladies spent a couple minutes discussing possible first date ideas—sorry, Amy, but no girl really wants to go to a picnic next to an insane asylum—their romantic guidance halted after Bernadette brought up Disneyland. Instead of helping out their pal find love, the ladies started planning their next vacation.

Poor Raj.
Trick-Or-Treat

Trick-Or-Treat

With Penny at work, Bernadette and Amy decided to take girls' night to her. Too bad that meant Penny had to serve the wine instead of drink it.

After pouring their glasses, Penny told her crew that she was less than excited to go with Leonard to a Halloween party at the comic bookstore. Not only did she think the patrons were a tad creepy, but she also felt like she couldn't participate in conversations with Leonard and his friends since she has a limited knowledge of both comics and science.

Instead of letting Penny wallow in her own self-pity, Bernadette reminded the waitress that relationships are all about compromise. For example, Leonard takes an interest in Penny's acting career, even though he doesn't independently have an interest in casting calls and read-throughs.

If the pharmaceutical career doesn't pan out, Bernie could totally be an advice guru.
Love You, Mean It

Love You, Mean It

Sometimes wine nights are much more about the whining than actual drinking. Thankfully, good friends always seem to know how to make you forget what you were upset about by the end of the night.

On one such occassion, the girls helped Penny sort through her feelings about Raj's new girlfriend, Emily, who had a lot to say about the former actress's relationship with her man. (Remember that time Penny and Raj spent the night together? Of course you do. Raj brings it up every chance he gets!)

While someone else might be upset that Raj flaunted the little rendezvous in order to impress other women, Penny was more upset that someone would dislike her for having a past. Eager to get on Emily's good side, Penny asked Bernadette and Amy for advice on how to build a relationship Raj's new sweetie.

That's when the trio reminisced about how they all became besties in the first place and, by the last glass of wine, the ladies had forgotten about any outside drama and were happy just to be in each other's company.

Belles Of The Ball

Belles Of The Ball

Before one particular girls' night, Penny decided to go through her closet to make space for her new professional attire. Noticing the heaps of clothes, Amy started digging and found one of Penny's old prom dresses, ultimately sparking a conversation about high-school dances.

After learning that none of the women had much fun at their proms—especially Amy, who only attended because she was part of the clean-up crew—the trio came up with a plan to throw their own magical soiree. Sure, their high-school days were long behind them, but that didn't mean they couldn't throw a little teenage fun into the mix.

Besides, now they could choose their own dates and replace the non-alcoholic punch with fancy cocktails. Why dwell on the past when you can create new memories with your best girls in the present?
If He Makes You Happy

If He Makes You Happy

Shortly before their wedding, Howard completely surprised Bernadette by telling her he'd be going to space to install a telescope in the International Space Station. Not knowing how to react, Bernie gathered her best friends for a major vent session.

Instead of bashing Howard, Amy and Penny chose to focus on Bernadette's feelings so they could steer the conversation in a more productive direction. The girls assured Berie that they'd support her no matter what, but encouraged her to really think about the benefits and drawbacks of the relationship. Could Bernie truly see herself as Mrs. Wolowitz, or did she feel like pumping the brakes a bit?

While they didn't tell Bernadette everything they wanted to say, the women did what mattered most: They listened to their friend and let her know just how much support she had in their relationship.
A Fair Warning

A Fair Warning

In honor of Penny and Leonard's engagement, the girls got together to celebrate over a refreshing glass of Chardonnay. But before they got the chance to discuss any of the details, Bernadette started ranting about her relationship with Howard's mother, warning Penny that marriage doesn't just mean saying "yes" to Leonard; it also means agreeing to wed his entire family.

Undetered by Bernadette's warning, Penny actually saw this as an opportunity to ease her friend's stress and offered to help take care of Howard's mother.

Both women gathered some pearls of wisdom from the conversation: Bernie didn't have to carry the burden of her mother-in-law alone, and Penny learned marriage wouldn't be as easy as it looked on TV.
Mustache-You To Pass The Wine

Mustache-You To Pass The Wine

Not all girls' nights are glamorous.

In preparation for her second-anniversary dinner with Sheldon, which was clearly outlined in their relationship agreement, Amy took her grooming routine to Penny's so the pair could talk beauty, boys, and marriage proposals.

Even when their conversations border on ridiculous, Penny makes sure to help Amy in any way that she can. Friends who wax together, stay together... or something like that.
Be Careful What You Cheers To

Be Careful What You Cheers To

Oh no she didn't!

Any time you mix friends and alcohol, you run the risk of having a hilarious—or dramatic—time. But if you're anything like these three gals, you might get both.

What started as a pleasant evening filled with light gossip and libations quickly turned into a shame-inducing showdown when the women started revealing embarrassing moments from each others' pasts.

Bernie was a pageant queen diva? Penny was in an ape movie? Amy writes steamy Little House On The Prairie fan ficition? Pour us another 'cause this stuff is juicy!

Thankfully, the friends were able to get over their initial feelings of humilation and share an evening of laughs toghether. After all, if you can't laugh at yourself with your friends, what's the point?
