These Grueling Big Brother Endurance Competitions Were No Joke

Big Brother's always been known for its crazy endurance competitions—which demand strength, vigor, and extreme patience. 

In the past, Houseguests have clung to ropes, walls, and ice in order to stay safe in the game. Some of the show's most memorable challenges have even lasted for hours.

In BB18, the Houseguests used all their strength to stay swinging on their ropes for as long as they could stand the pain. After just about two hours, Victor was named the winner, which meant he was safe another week in the house.

Another movable wall challenge pitted the BB17 Houseguests against each other as they stood sturdy on a perch in hopes of winning the season's first solo HOH Competition. James grabbed the win after being rained on and feeling the pain that comes from gripping for safety the longest.

Competing on ice is no joke, especially when victory means your safety through another week in the BB house. In Season 16, this three-hour endurance challenge had the final seven Houseguests slipping left and right as they moved from one end to other... over and over again.

In this HOH Competition called "Bull In The China Shop," BB15 Houseguests held on for dear life as they rapidly moved their feet to keep balance. After more than hour of competing, it came down to GinaMarie and McCrae, the two who kept up the best pace.

In a 12 person battle of endurance, the coaches went up against their former players for the HOH title in this ruthless and uncomfortable challenge. Danielle made it to the end—after holding tight for four hours—and became the first girl to snag the HOH suite that summer.

This Big Brother competition was just as dizzying as it was colorful. As Houseguests were spun around in circles, they were pelted with brightly-colored paints... for over an hour. Even though small in frame, Matt took the win for this one, making it his second endurance victory!

Finagling tiny fingers through this wired fence was frustrating beyond belief. Just ask these BB11 Houseguests who dressed as chickens as they fumbled with eggs for nearly two hours in this POV Competition. The same competition was done again in Seasons 12, 15, 16, 17, and 18.

Holding onto a long bar behind them caused some serious aches and pains for the BB10 Houseguests when they were put to the endurance test in this challenge called "Livin' On The Edge." As the wall slanted, the HOH Competition only further intensified.

It was a disco inferno when the BB9 Houseguests went to new heights on their sparkly spherical objects. James, Chelsia, Sharon, and Natalie even clung on well into the night lasting close to two and a half hours.

This wet and wild endurance competition had Houseguests standing on pedestals while they held their keys and jumped over a moving turnstile. Evel Dick and Zach held it together all the way to the end in hopes of winning HOH that week. Zach was the lucky one.

Big Brother's "Pressure Cooker" HOH Competition takes the cake for the show's longest-lasting challenge. While inside a glass case, Houseguests had to hold down a single button without letting go. Jennifer ended up taking the win, lasting an impressive, history-making 14 hours and 37 minutes... which brought the challenge to 9AM the following day.
