Joan in Life In Pieces

Dianne Wiest has won two Academy Awards for Best Supporting Actress: one for her performance in "Hannah and Her Sisters" and one for "Bullets Over Broadway." She was nominated for her role in "Parenthood." Her additional feature film credits include "Synecdoche," "New York," "A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints," "The Purple Rose of Cairo," "Radio Days," "September," "Rabbit Hole," "Footloose," "The Humbling," "Edward Scissorhands" and "The Birdcage,"  among many others. Recently, she finished shooting "Five Nights in Maine," starring opposite David Oyelowo, and "Sisters" with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, both due out this year.

Wiest earned two Emmy Awards for her performance in the television series "In Treatment," and for a guest role in "Road to Avonlea."

On the stage, Wiest appeared in The New Group's production of "Rasheeda Speaking," directed by Cynthia Nixon. Prior to that, she appeared in "The Cherry Orchard" and "All My Sons." Additional New York theater credits include "The Seagull," "Third," "Memory House," "Salome," "Oedipus," "The Shawl," "Hunting Cockroaches," "After the Fall," "Beyond Therapy" and "The Art of Dining."

Wiest was raised in Kansas City, Mo., and, when not shooting LIFE IN PIECES, resides in New York City with her two daughters.  Her birthday is March 28.
