Captain Pike Has The Star Trek: Discovery Cast Energized For Season 2

Captain Christopher Pike is aboard!

The new captain of the U.S.S. Discovery, portrayed by actor Anson Mount, gets some serious face time in the First Look trailer for Star Trek: Discovery Season 2, which was shown for the first time at San Diego Comic-Con 2018.

Just like fans, Mount's fellow stars are pumped!

"The new captain brings their own set of everything," said Sonequa Martin-Green ("Michael Burnham"). She also pointed out how the actor has the opportunity to bring something unique to Discovery's iteration of the legendary franchise.

"He has that cocky, confident demeanor about him," observed Wilson Cruz ("Dr. Hugh Culber").

"He's kind of a superstar, I think," confirmed Mary Wiseman ("Sylvia Tilly"). "He's, like, the dude, so I think it's exciting."

"He's not afraid to admit failure,"​ Anson piped up, offering a sense of his character's depth. "[He'll] suddenly announce, 'I'm lost. Anybody got a good idea?'"

Anthony Rapp ("Paul Stamets"), Shazad Latif ("Ash Tyler"), and Mary Chieffo ("L'Rell") also spoke about the show's latest addition, raving about Anson's gravitas, warmth, quit confidence, magnetic presence, and—of course—ability to look sharp in uniform!
