Anna Khait reflects on her Survivor: Kaoh Rong journey.

1. Anna Khait reflects on her Survivor: Kaoh Rong journey.

At the end of the latest episode of Survivor: Kaoh Rong, castaway Anna Khait was sent packing after her newly-formed Gondol Tribe turned against her. Anna had spent the week privately plotting against Tai, but as Tribal got closer and she learned of Tai's Hidden Immunity Idol, her attention turned to Peter

We were able to catch up with this pro poker player following her elimination. Find out what she had to say about her disappointing exit, if she would have done anything differently, and how she prepared for her Survivor experience months before it began.
1. How surprised were you to find out you were the one eliminated?

2. 1. How surprised were you to find out you were the one eliminated?

Anna: "Well, I was pretty certain that I was going to be going home but, before Tribal, Tai showed me the Idol and I thought we were going to blindside Peter. I wasn’t 100% sure Tai was going to use the Idol but I was pretty confident that he was. So I was shocked when I learned I was out."
2. What would you have done differently looking back at your journey?

3. 2. What would you have done differently looking back at your journey?

Anna: "Honestly, I wouldn’t change anything. I tried as much as I could. There was an angle to go with Peter but the Brains Tribe didn’t want to lose a number. It wasn’t even my idea—it was Joe's. I realized later that Aubry was not going to give up the numbers so I stopped talking about it.

"I didn’t want to play too hard, so I started planting seeds about Tai: of him being sneaky and that he probably has the Idol. That was kind of my only option because the Brains are not going to lose a Brains Tribe member. They're going to use Peter as long as they can. Scot was in a good spot because he is strong and is a swing vote. It came down to me or Tai. I tried my best."
3. Did it cross your mind to tell the rest of the castaways about Tai's Hidden Immunity Idol as you were leaving Tribal?

4. 3. Did it cross your mind to tell the rest of the castaways about Tai's Hidden Immunity Idol as you were leaving Tribal?

Anna: "It did cross my mind. You only have a few seconds when you're voted out of the game. You basically just walk up to Jeff and then walk out. I strongly considered doing it but I think a really big reason I chose not to say anything was the fact that Julia was coming back in the game. I’m out of the game, she's my girl, and I’m rooting for her to win along with Michele.

"I was afraid it would mess up her game by spilling about Tai. In hindsight, if it wasn’t for Julia coming back in the game, I would have 100% said it with a smile on my face. But I can’t regret it because I really wanted to help her."
4. Do you think throwing Tai under the bus was the main reason why the Brains Tribe targeted you instead of him?

5. 4. Do you think throwing Tai under the bus was the main reason why the Brains Tribe targeted you instead of him?

Anna: "No, I think that what happened with the swap was I lost my numbers in the tribe. There were three Brains, two Beauty and one Brawn. I knew I was at the bottom of the tribe and it was a pretty crappy situation. The extra twist of Julia coming back into the game when someone gets voted out really, in my opinion, did me in.

"When it comes to 50/50 between Tai and I—and now you’re adding the extra element of Julia coming in—it automatically doesn’t really balance out. I tried my best but there's really nothing I could have done. It was clear to me that it was either me or Michele going home on the other tribe. You can’t have two Beauty girls and another Beauty girl on the other side. You want to split them up."
5. Did you practice any survival skills before actually going on Survivor?

6. 5. Did you practice any survival skills before actually going on Survivor?

Anna: "I did. About two months before I went on the show, I started re-watching Survivor episodes, reading survival books, I took a survival training course, and learned how to make fire and tie ropes. My dad’s a fisherman so he taught me how to make fishing knots and stuff like that. I was pretty prepared going out there.

"I'm already outdoorsy. I used to go camping when I was younger—and hiking, canoeing, and backpacking. I love nature and was really excited to get to live outside for awhile."
6. What surprised you most about your Survivor experience?

7. 6. What surprised you most about your Survivor experience?

Anna: "I was surprised to learn how really important luck is. I knew there was luck involved but sometimes you don’t realize it until something like that happens.

"I was also surprised by how bad the mosquitos were out there. I didn’t realize I'd be so bitten up as bad as I was. It's difficult to go to sleep with what sounds like a million mosquitos around you. You almost go crazy with them buzzing in your ears all night, but then you can wake up so grateful in the morning surrounded by peace, serenity, and quiet.

"The elements really surprised me. Also, how hot it was. Watching from home and playing are two very different experiences. Survivor is so real. When I got out there, I realized it is what it is. I was happy and excited that it was exactly what I thought it would be."
7. If you ever had a chance to play again, would you?

8. 7. If you ever had a chance to play again, would you?

Anna: "I’d definitely play again. I love this game. Survivor is something that is very similar to my other love—poker. There’s strategy, there’s outplaying people, and reading people. It’s all of that in a social setting.

"I love that it’s competitive, all the challenges, and the body cues. I love the whole entire game and would love to give it another shot. I feel like I wasn’t able to show America what I really have. I feel like I have so much more to give the show, the fans, and myself. I’d go back out guns blazing and work my butt off. Unfortunately, my time was cut short."
