She has a background in theater.
Similar to many of her predecessors on The Good Wife, Rose has spent a lot of time on stage. Before landing her big television breaks on Downton Abbey and later Game of Thrones, she performed in productions of Romeo and Juliet, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Bedlam, and more.
She attended the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art.
That's right, she's classically trained, too! Rose graduated from LADMA's three-year acting course with a Bachelor of Art in 2008—with honors, no less!
She enjoys archery and rock climbing.
Not surprisingly, Rose has an athletic streak. She's kept up with archery and rock-climbing since playing Ygritte on Game of Thrones. She also runs, cooks, skis, plays tennis and has a BASSC certificate in stage combat. In other words, this actress does a whole lot more than just act!
She's part of the almost 1,000-year-old Clan Leslie.
You read that right: Clan Leslie. It's a thing. In addition to being a member herself, Rose's father, Sebastian Arbuthnot-Leslie, is the Aberdeenshire Chieftain of Clan Leslie, which dates back almost a millennium.
She grew up in a Scottish castle.
Hey, when you're a member of a noble family like Rose is, you've got to have a castle! As it happens, the young thespian was raised at Lickleyhead Castle in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. The structure is over 400 years old and remains standing to this day.
She's good to her fans.
How many actresses do you know who would agree to sign a fan's forehead? Our guess is not many! But that's exactly what Rose did for one of her admirers at a convention. Rose knows how to make any fan's day.
Michelle Obama is her hero.
During her Winter TCA interview, Rose mentioned that, in preparing for her role as Maia, she looked to both her mother and former First Lady Michelle Obama for inspiration, calling them "incredible" and "extraordinary" women.
She's a middle child.
Any middle children in the courtroom? Well, you're in good company with Rose, who is the third of five kids in her family.
She has a Scottish BAFTA.
In 2009, Rose won a British Academy Scotland New Talent Award—Best Acting Performance—for her work on the film New Town.
