Stephen Colbert Riffs On Trump's Tax Returns Through The Microwave Cam
The Late Show host questions the (in)significance of Trump's 2005 tax returns.
The release of President Trump's 2005 tax returns this week seems to have everyone buzzing, including Stephen Colbert, who took to The Late Show's very own Microwave Cam to air his thoughts.
You might remember Stephen's introduction of the high-tech kitchen utensil/spyware from Monday's episode, but, if you missed it, check it out below:
Anyway, back to Wednesday night.
After crunching some numbers, Stephen wondered if Trump, in fact, was the one to leak his tax returns.
Hoping to get to the bottom of the ordeal, The Late Show host pressed the "Truth" setting on the microwave and started cooking some theories.
“Follow me here," he said into the microwave. "Maybe Trump did leak his own tax returns from the year he actually paid returns to dispel rumors that he hasn’t paid taxes for 20 years. Or, maybe, this whole tax thing is just a distraction from his connections with Russia. Or, maybe, that’s just a distraction from the fact that TrumpCare is dead on arrival. If you think about it, it makes sense. And, if you don’t think about it, it makes even more sense.”
Whoa, that's some heavy stuff.
