Elizabeth Laidlaw
Biography
Elizabeth Laidlaw has worked as a Chicago-based screen, stage and voiceover actress for 25 years. Her feature film credits include Henry Gamble’s Birthday Party, Cleveland Abduction, Into the Wake, Dimension, and Three Days. Her television credits include Chicago P.D., Betrayal, Crisis, The Chicago Code, Turks, and Boss. She stars in and co-produces the Chicago-based web series The Haven, a dramedy set in a domestic violence shelter.

On stage, Laidlaw has performed with numerous Chicago companies, including Steppenwolf, Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, The Goodman, Writer's Theatre, and Court Theatre, among others. Regionally, she has appeared at American Repertory Theatre, Irish Classical Theatre, and Indiana Repertory Theatre. One of her proudest Chicago theater contributions was helping to create David Cromer's landmark production of Angels in America in which she played the Angel. Recently, that production was featured in the book The World Only Spins Forward: Angels in America, An Oral History, by Isaac Butler and Dan Kois. She is the founder and artistic director of Lakeside Shakespeare Theatre in Benzie County, Michigan, which celebrated its 15th season in August 2018.

Laidlaw has lent her voice to numerous advertising campaigns, including Disney and Sears. She was proud to narrate the award-winning documentary Hard Earned by Kartemquin Films, which examined the struggle of individuals trying to get by on minimum wage in America.

She received a B.F.A. in performance and directing from Illinois Wesleyan University and studied Shakespeare at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London.
