Diane Lockhart is the kindhearted powerhouse at the center of The Good Wife. She rolls with the punches and can tackle any challenge that comes her way. She built Lockhart/Gardner into one of Chicago’s top law firms so when Louis Canning threatened to dissolve the firm, Diane decided to make her own nuclear choice. She marched over to Florrick/Agos and shocked everyone by asking Florrick/Agos to take her and her $38 million a year in client billing in.

Over the course of the series, we've seen Diane take on her fair share of accomplishments and challenges, personal and professional. The quick-witted lawyer got married, faced heartbreak, and was nearly removed from her own law firm. She has become a mentor to the show's leading lady, played by Julianna Margulies, and when Alicia hesitated about accepting partnership at the firm Diane gave Alicia the push she needed sharing that “when the door you have been knocking at finally swings open, you don’t ask why. You run through.”
She knows what she is worth.

4. She knows what she is worth.

If there is one thing we know, and love, about Diane Lockhart it's her ability to take command of a room. In fact, in season 5, when Diane faced being pushed out of the firm, it was five words that changed the ball game. Telling the other partners "I want what I'm worth," showed that she knows how valuable her time and talent is and isn't above putting a price-tag on it.

The tragic loss of her business partner, Will Garder, made Diane vulnerable as the firm's sole managing partner.  For some this might seem intimidating, even frightening, but that is what makes Diane the person she is. In Season 5, Episode 17, Diane and David Lee engage in a power struggle over the firm. When David makes a run at trying to remove Diane from power, Chicago's top litigator let Lee know that she isn't going anywhere. In fact,  she even offered up some safety advice telling David to "fasten your seatbelts. We’re heading for a lot of hurt.”
