Bill Paxton and Justin Cornwell stopped by The Talk to discuss their new crime drama series, Training Day, which premiered last night on CBS and CBS All Access.

On the show, Bill plays Frank Rourke, a jaded, rogue detective who teams up with a young, idealistic officer, Kyle Craig (played by Justin), to take down Los Angeles' most dangerous criminals.

While Frank and Kyle don't see eye to eye, Bill and Justin couldn't be closer friends.

"This guy's terrific," Bill said of his co-star. "We didn't know each other a year ago, and now I feel like we must have been split up at birth. He's my Siamese twin."

However, that doesn't mean Bill and Justin don't have a few things in common with their Training Day characters.

"I've been out here over 40 years, folks; Justin is new to Hollywood, so it's kind of art imitating life on the show," Bill said. "I know I give him a hard time, but it's out of love."

The actor added, "My son watched the show, he watched the pilot, and he said, 'It's just like our relationship, Dad! You're always on my case!' It's done out of love!"

Later, Justin explained how he had a "training day" of his own landing the part of Kyle, which took about four days from audition to shoot.

"It was crazy, because I had done a lot of auditions for the pilot season last year, and then I finally got this one after about 30 auditions," he said, noting that he was auditioning from Chicago at the time.

"The next day, I put it on tape at nine in the morning. 12 pages and two hours later, Warner Bros. was like, 'Hey, you need to be in Los Angeles,' and they flew me out, they bought my plane ticket, two hours after I self-taped."

The next day, Justin was in LA testing at Warner Bros., and the day after that he got the job, straight to the table read with Bill. And the rest, as they say, is history.

To see Bill and Justin hit the mean streets of LA, tune in to Training Day on Thursdays at 10/9c on CBS and CBS All Access.
