Brooke Shields and Sheryl Underwood on Family in Long Term Care Facilities
Brooke Shields and Sheryl Underwood talk candidly about concerns with family members in long term care. Underwood reveals, "This is the biggest fear that I have, because my sister is disabled and she cannot read, write or talk. And it is why I work so hard to have someone standing next to her bed 24 hours a day. But everybody cannot afford this." Shields adds, "My mom had dementia and we ended up having to put her in a facility. Her first facility that she went to, they let a member of the Enquirer magazine check her out... and I got a call from the police department and the bank, from a town he took her to. He didn't get prosecuted in any way and he didn't even get fired. And I was going to destroy the facility and then I sort of thought, this is one incident, she has different circumstances, and I didn't want to take away something that was positive for a lot of families."
