Andrew Dice Clay Recalls Tear-Drenched Screen Test with Lady Gaga for 'A Star is Born'
Actor Andrew Dice Clay opens up about his new film 'A Star is Born' and the tearful screen test with co-star Lady Gaga and director Bradley Cooper that landed him the role. "We bonded by talking about... when she [Lady Gaga] became a phenomenon a few years back, she said to me, "You were a phenomenon with your career," I was like the Lady Gaga of standup comedy," says Clay. Guest co-host Anjelica Houston asks, "I heard you had to do a screen test?" "That day in the studio, Bradley shows up... and he goes, "Let's try some scenes." Not knowing the script, Clay recalls saying to Cooper, "I'm just not feeling it." Then after taking off his dark glasses and fanny pack, Clay reveals, "Three minutes later, I'm holding this girl, I don't even know her for 20 minutes and I'm holding her... in my arms and my tears are hitting her in the head. I don't even know what I was talking about and he's [Cooper] on the floor crying... and he goes, "I knew it, I knew it Dice."
