Sheryl Underwood on SNL's Pete Davidson's Veteran Joke; 'everything isn't funny'
SNL's Pete Davidson is making headlines after joking about a vet's war injuries during Saturday's show. Host Sheryl Underwood shares her take, saying, "I'm a comic and veteran and for me... I think the joke just didn't landed where it needed to land. He could've kept off the part about him losing his eye in war and stopped where the big laugh was... but he should have directed it at himself and not to someone who is serving our country," says Underwood. "As a comic, I try to not to say that a comic should not tell a joke, the audience decides if the joke doesn't work... I would not like Pete Davidson to lose the right to tell a joke. He needs to learn from this, that everything is not to be joked about... you have to understand that everything isn't funny. You have to respect it."
